Secondly, I am so sorry about this upcoming huge wall of text, (TLDR at the bottom), but there's quite a bit for me to express:
I'm an extremely 'objective based' player. I don't care about my K/D these days. I play to get wins. Mostly, I play Hardpoint. The score values for playing the objective on Hardpoint are currently absolutely abysmal. There is little to no incentive in this gamemode in particular to want to play the objective. I always finish with the highest time on the Hardpoint, and I'll have close to equal amounts of damage and kills to the highest person on my team, yet because I'm dying a lot from all the grenade spam and not 'streaking,' like my teammates, I am seriously punished in terms of score and, subsequently, XP as well.
I would like to be able to earn my scorestreaks via playing the objective, which I am honestly struggling to do without kill-streaking. I would also like to earn similar amounts of XP to these killstreakers which just isn't happening.
I could (and often do) spend 200+ seconds on the Hardpoint, earning a pitiful 20 score per 5 seconds, which would give me only 800 score, yet others on my team can go on a killstreak without even touching the Hardpoint the entire game (which often happens a lot btw) and earn sometimes triple or quadruple what I have by the end of the game.
It doesn't make sense to me how they're called SCOREstreaks, yet they still function so strongly like KILLstreaks. I don't feel like I'm getting enough score in certain gamemodes for playing the objectives. I feel like objective based players like me are punished for playing particular gamemodes the way they're SUPPOSED to be played. I've played so many games of Hardpoint and only earned my top streak of a Chopper Gunner ONCE. And no offence to anyone, but it was because the opposite team were pretty trash, and it was because I let my SBMM rating drop so bad by getting killed so often a few games in a row beforehand - so I was put with pretty casual players.
It's worth mentioning (because I'm sure it will be brought up at some point in the comments) that despite being an objective based player, I am above average in skill in CoD. I've played every CoD since CoD4 and have earned nukes/moabs, massive killstreaks and all the rest. I had a change of heart in recent years about how I play the game because I realised going on 30+ killstreaks without ever touching the objectives (mostly the Headquarters back in the good old days!) was kinda trashy of me.
I will also say that these days I do die a lot in my games. I probably die between 15-20 times a game but I'll usually have more kills than this. My overall K/D is 1.4 at Prestige 1, level 20. But despite having near the same kills and damage as the guy who's streaking and not playing the objective, I'm earning way less.
There are other gamemodes where this issue is apparent too, but since I have the majority of my experience playing Hardpoint in this game, I'll just stick to talking about Hardpoint for now.
In MW19, you earned 10 score per second on the Hardpoint. That's 50 score for every 5 seconds, compared with the 20 score we get for 5 seconds now. MW19 was killstreak based. BOCW is scorestreak based. Why has the score values for playing objectives been halved for a game that promotes SCOREstreaks? As mentioned above, why do the SCOREstreaks in this game function so hard like KILLstreaks despite being called SCOREstreaks?!
It is just completely nonsensical to me, and I realise this issue probably affects me more than most, being so objective based, but I really feel like players like me should be rewarded just a little more for actually doing what we are supposed to be doing; i.e. Playing the objective.
What's happening right now is these so-called SCORESTREAKS are just promoting campers that don't play the objectives. That isn't right.
Once again, sorry for the rant. It's not an angry one at all. It's more of a sad one. It kinda sucks for me, as there's less incentive to play Hardpoint now, which is my favourite game mode. I've gone back to playing TDM a lot to just streak and earn lots of score and XP.
Objective based players don't get the score (for SCOREstreaks) or the XP we deserve for playing the objectives like we are supposed to, most notably in Hardpoint - even compared to MW19 which was KILLSTREAK based.
MW19 = 10 score per 1 second on the Hardpoint
COD BOCW = 20 score per 5 seconds on the Hardpoint.
More than halving the score values in a scorestreak based game = a very confused objective based player
These SCOREstreaks still function like KILLstreaks which is wrong because ultimately you aren't awarded decent score for playing the objectives.
As a result, this so-called scorestreak system is actually a killstreak system that's promoting campers in objective based gamemodes.
